How close are we to mimicing
photosynthesis
through biotech materials?
If we're close at all, what are those materials or where is that research happening?
thanks!,

Re: how close are we?
Sat, November 4, 2006 - 10:34 PMWow. That's a big FAT question, and definitely academic. The only relevance to the question that i can see over here in solar architecture is with photovoltaic breakthroughs....but pv isn't biotech.
Maybe you could be a little more specific.

Re: how close are we?
Sun, November 18, 2007 - 11:03 AMwe are actually better than plants at this point. with the light captured in the surface area of a leaf, a plant is only able to transform about 1% of light into food, which turns out is all it really needs. Sunpower, a worldwide manufacturer of solar panels, is able to convert ~21% of the light that is captured in the area of the module into electricity.
